Mar 23 - Mar 29

Wild weather. Beginning of the week was very warm with daily high at 17degrees. Next day temperature dropeed to 8. Next 2 days there was strong wind with gusts up to 80km/hour. News reported quite a lot of damage. Broken trees, branches fallen on cars, torned off semaphores. Luckily I didn't hear about any deaths.

Before and after I managed to do run session. I'm enjoying prolonged daylight every day.

Work-wise I've started to use Copilot CLI at last, and this time I was really blown off. Task that would take me 3 days to complete was done in about half day thanks to AI. I've read and observed its "thinking" and "reasoning" carefully. Not only it identified exactly what I've thought, It updated code, run tests, realized the error based on business logic deduced from failing tests, updated requirements, fixed implementation and then updated tests again (there have been few iterations like this on background). Whole implementation took about an hour of background work which I could use to do something else but I was just curious to observe its reasoning.

Well tasks after this one I've managed to complete very quick and it was Tuesday / Wednesday when I felt like I'm done with work I've planned to do for this whole week. I've shared my experience with few colleagues of mine and they for some reason weren't very impressed. I realize that its still too soon but I think that I'm done with implementation. If the company usage allows there is no reason to do that by hand (the only reason why not to do so may be the price, but thats not the case now.)

The other half of the week colleague of mine asked me to help with new production release and that was rush, hectic and very busy so I wasn't bored at all. I've also learned that one of my colleague is leaving after short time and that we hired a junior developer after all.

Oh and my salary was increased above inflation rate this year which was a very pleasant surprise! I've also managed to configure Core part of work environment on my Linux, but I'm not very confident if I can work solely in Linux.

Weekend was short since on Sunday I was traveling to Prague again. I just managed to prepare small batch of kombucha, last one got spoiled after just a few days.

Sport

  • 2x 5 km run (pace ~6)

Horizons

  • Visit Prague again and Makarska same week
  • I don't plan to do any sport in Prague this time, rather make a progress with my book. I've pre-ordered Designing Data Intensive Applications and want to be ready by the time It arrives.

Encounters

  • While big chunk of Europe was hit by cold snap, Zagreb suffered also from strong wind and it caused some damage. There was a Red warning issued by Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service. One morning we were waken up by alarm issued by Zagreb city. My first thought was that its some sort or early warning of an earthquake. Message was bit ridiculous: "Due to bad weather condition, primary and secondary schools are closed"
